Sands Macao Opens Public Hotel

I was digging through the massive pile of flyers and takeaways I snagged in Macau and stumbled across an announcement for the opening of the Sands Macao's hotel tower. As you may or may not know, the Sands' accomodation offerings were limited to 40 invite only VIP suites for high rollers. Their new hotel offering opened September 28th and features 289 rooms.

The Bedroom - love the dark wood paneling, reminds me of my parents' basement circa 1974, if one wall was lime green paint and there was a circular orange shag throw carpet you'd have a quick glimpse into my childhood. Seriously, the room looks decent, but after seeing the dark woodwork at Crown Macau, this looks cheesy and pre-dated. I'm surprised they decided to take photos of the room during daylight... every photographer knows that backlit glare, particularly from the bright hazy Macau sky is the worst condition possible for photography, at least draw the blinds. Note the flat panel tv in the living room.

Living Room - note the flat panel in the bedroom. Nice touch having two tv's. I wonder if there's one in the can as well. The paneled wall between the bedroom and the living room seem quite strange to me. It's just a block of wood separating the living area from the sleeping area. Why?

I wish it was open when I was there, I would love to have had the chance to check out the details. Even though I'm not really hot on this interior design, I might (might, not do) like it a little more than the "grandma's house" vibe at the Venetian. It certainly does not hold a candle to the digs at Wynn and I won't even mention Crown Macau again.

Anyway, here's the text of the flyer I snagged when I was at the Sands:
