Timelapse: Macau's Amazing Land Reclamation 1984 to 2016

Over its 400+ years as a place, Macau has continually reclaimed land from the sea, turning the tiny collection of peninsula and two islands into a bustling tourism metropolis. Thanks to this fascinating time lapse consisting of satellite imagery taken from Google Earth, we can see the dramatic changes that Macau has undergone in the last 32 years.
Seeing the land between Taipa and Coloane islands slowly becoming Cotai - starting with Rua Do Istmo connecting the two islands before moving on the western (Galaxy) side of Cotai - is quite dramatic.
The peninsula reclamation project is equally as dramatic... you can see how Avenida Do Amizade ran right along the South China Sea, with Hotel Lisboa, Presidente, and the rest of the peninsula casinos had waterfront views before Wynn Macau, Starworld, MGM Macau and the throngs of high rise apartment and office buildings were built on the new land reclaims.
Amazing!
