Wynn Palace Delayed Until June 25, 2016
Wynn Resorts announced today that the grand opening of Wynn Palace has been pushed back until June 25, 2016. The reason given is that construction contractor Leighton (whose lawyers recently sent our sister site VegasTripping a nastygram threatening cease and desist over this) will be unable to complete the property in time.
This is bad news for Wynn as the opening of their big resort has been delayed until after Chinese New Year. This is even worse news for Leighton as they lose out on the completion guarantee bonus for delivering the resort on time. Eeek!
This news is GREAT news for me. The original opening date - March 25, 2016 - was scheduled for the exact same day that I had tickets to see by beloved David Gilmour here in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl. I am a huge fan of Mr. Gilmour's work in Pink Floyd as well as a solo artist and have been waiting for him to go on tour for about ten years. In the battle between Gilmour and traveling across the earth to watch The Steve dance to "Holding Out For A Hero"- as delicious as that sounds - Mr. Gilmour wins.
So, it's on. We have a new target date for my Macau trip, on or around June 25, 2016, for the grand opening of Wynn Palace. I'll see you there!
