For Sale : MGM Grand Macau?

New Jersey Casino Control Commission has told MGM Mirage to "disengage itself from any business association" with Pansy Ho... or else.

But what does this mean, at least as relates to Macau?

Would MGM Mirage step away from the lucrative Macau market and sell its stake in MGM Grand Macau to protect its partnership with Boyd Gaming at Borgata?

Would the Macau government offer a split to their sub-concession in the same way it did to Galaxy Entertainment and Las Vegas Sands Corp, when their shared agreement developed cross purposes?

Will MGM Mirage seek to arrange another partnership in Macau by acquisition (Galaxy) or partnership (Melco Crown)? Has MGM Mirage finally rolled a seven, ending their continually troubled run to operate free and clear in Macau?

I'm curious what kinds of theories y'all have as to how this is going to shake out... based on facts or fantasy.

Comments & Discussion:

Crown is in Partnership with Lawrence Ho(Pansy's brother) one presumes Mr Packer has "Abandoned" his ambition in the USA for his Macau project??(or will he sever ties in Macau to focus on USA gaming...tough choice)

From what I read, it was more of a recommendation, not a demand. I could be wrong. But from what I heard, this could blow over, with no action taken. If it really came down to it, I'd think MGM would give up their AC position, before Macau, especially if they end up doing this MGM Aquaduct deal, its just outside of NY, and could be far more profitable than their AC property.
