The Dramman Files: L'Arc Macau Feb 2009

For those who do not know, L'Arc (aka L'Arch du Triomphe, The Arch & Royal Arch) is located one block south of Avenida de Amizade/Rua Cicade da Sintra, behind StarWorld, directly across the street from the Encore Macau tower. Here's a map.

Photos and commentary below are from Dramman. He went nuts circling L'Arc and brought back a ton of great photos.

L'Arc du Triumph

l'Arc: Almost done as you can see. I do not know if the building will look good, or simply garish. The construction in both style and method looks very Venetian-eque. One odd thing, its right next door to the ultramodern Rem Koolhaas-looking StarWorld Casino. The juxtaposition may be hideous... and to think Wynn Encore visitors will be treated to it.

[Left : thats Wynn Macau to the right. Right: Facing north on the east side of the building... that's StarWorld (and Ave Amizade) to the north - Ed]

[North side "L'Arc" entry, StarWorld is to the immediate left, Wynn Macau directly behind the photographer. - Ed]

Comments & Discussion:

Very astute observations Dramman. I'm leaning towards actually liking the way this compliments everything around it. Seeing European themed architecture shoehorned into one city block with a massive hotel tower sticking out of it is fascinating in it's 'aesthetic distortions' alone. I'm really excited to see how this part of the peninsula is going to evolve when all this stuff is done and perhaps when the MPEL Trinity project comes on line as well. Fascinating.... thanks for taking the time to let us see it from all sides.

Really Really Good Work guys.....i look forward to having a look myself in April.
