The Dramman Files: Wynn Cotai Construction Status Feb 2009

For the purposes of orientation, this our ruthlessly researched Cotai Strip Construction Map. All commentary and photos below are by George "Dramman" Geddes, except as noted. Thanks DM!

Wynn Cotai Construction?

Now this was interesting. The construction site at first looked exciting. There was some sign-looking thingy going up, and there was a crane swinging around. Action!

There was also an impressive power substation built right by it (Red and sliver thing). When I had to switch batteries to take a picture of a transformer declaring its dedication to Wynn, a guard came out of the gate to give me the once over. I got that look before (Venetian...Encore...Marina Bay...), and knew I should waddle away thankful for what I got (I could argue with the guy that I was in a public place, reasonable right to privacy, appropriate measures, yada yada, but this is not the US and don't want the hassle).

When I got to a "back gate", there was nothing but weeds. Only till I got to the end was I encouraged. There is a rather large mound of gravel out back.

Gravel that could be used for say....construction roads for such a large property.

So I went along the wall, and got less impressed with every step. No other cranes. Ivy topped one of the walls, defiantly indicating lack of attention or plant crunching construction.

Comments & Discussion:

Somehow this got posted elsewhere (chuck?):

I could have sworn I sent a picture of the Crane and the power substation.

To rectify reality with this map. On Chuck's map The "T" intersection at the south side of the Wynn is actualy an ordinary one. However, the north end quickly veers right, forming a roughly 10-15m wide strip on the north east corner. On this strip is where the power station is. It then will turn left as on the map, however as I mention later there is a strip of empty land between the Wynn property and the sea. I do not know if this is new fill land, or an issue with the map.
