Casino Connection Steals Our Crown Macau Photo
If there's one thing that really pisses me off, it's when people steal our content, particularly photos. I'd like to believe that I'm an agreeable person who will happily share the occasional photo as long as MacauTripping is given a photo credit.
A blog by Atlantic City based Casino Connection (a subsidiary company of Global Gambling Business magazine) has taken upon themselves to steal a photo of Crown Macau's 38th Floor Registration desk that I took during the big trip last year.
I can't say I'm surprised that our photos of Macau have been poached, I expected it. Detailed photos of Macau's casinos (other than the Wynn, the Lisboas and the Venetian Macao) are few and far between. Photos, in addition to information, was the main reason why I went there in the first place. There are many great sites out there that cover the gambling biz and tourism. There are even less that cover Macau. There are - maybe - three websites out there that offer the complete Macau casino tourist enchilada, and only one that has copious amounts of large dimension photos - this one.
My vision for this site was/is for it to be a quasi HD travel guide to Macau, that is as intelligent as it is beautiful. If there was one mistake I made before going to Macau, it was not upgrading my camera before hand. Unfortunately, I just don't have the loot to spring for a new one quite yet, but definitely will before the next trip.
Anyways, the Global Gambling Business magazine folks swiped the photo from my personal Flickr account and republished it in their Flickr account (set to private so they wouldn't get busted), and today posted it to their blog. Thank goodness for my Google Alert for 'Melco PBL Entertainment' otherwise, I never would've known. I compelled to wonder what other photos of ours they've stolen, published and made a profit off of.
Here's the offending article. They've got comments at the bottom in case you feel like giving them the bizness.
I'll be giving them a phone call tomorrow to see how they attempt to play this off. Stay tuned.
