Golden Dragon 金龍娛樂場

Rua de Malaca, Macau [ map ]

Quick Take:

Golden Dragon casino has a girlie show entitled "Crazy Happy Show!" that features an assortment of chix doing some table dancing and other semi-erotic stuff. No ping pong balls, this is a family joint! (sorta)

What You Need To Know:

The Golden Dragon casino is dark, funky yet quite fun. The dealers were amused by our Sic Bo strategy and generously laughed when I continually won a bunch of their money. As far as old-school SJM operated Macau casinos go, the Golden Dragon is one of the more comfortable and fun ones. Not essential, but amusing for sure.

Golden Dragon is located one block north of Avenida de Amizade on the eastern end of the downtown Macau strip. Casa Real is right across the street and Galaxy Waldo is a block or two west. The mega Sands Macao is an easy 10 minute walk away.

A Little History:

Golden Dragon is one of the older joints in Macau, the hotel has been refurbished periodically, but is not up to par with many of the other newer hotels that have come to Macau in the last few years.

Hotel Rooms:

Golden Dragon offers 483 rooms and 45 suites that range from the basic to the semi-large. Prices are a bit high for a 3 1/2 star resort but it is close to the ferry terminal and the extremely popular Sands hotel and casino. Amenities include internet access, safe, satelitte TV, mini-bar/tea service, rain shower and room service.

Golden Dragon has four dining options including: Farm House (Cantonese), Villa Picasso (breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet), Nice Lounge (bar), Tatuda (Japanese)

The Casino:

Casino Golden Dragon in Macau is a real hoot. Its a fun place, not too crowded, and does not have an aire of exclusivity that a number of the other hard core Chinese gambling joints have. The guests and staff didn't give us dirty looks or snickers when we hit the casino. The staff does not speak English.

Casino Games Offered:

Baccarat, Blackjack, Sic Bo, Roulette, Video Slots. Minimums range from HK$50 on up.
