The Bed
The bedding and linens at Hotel Lisboa were top notch. The bed itself was quite large and long enough for my 6'3" frame and its 'Asian-style' firm mattress provided two extremely restful nights of sleep once the initial shock wore off. The high-brightness, ceiling mounted reading lights are an excellent alternative to the end table clutter caused by lamps.
To the side of the bed is a nightstand/control panel with elaborate wood inlays of birds, leaves, bugs and the like. The control panel consisted of a plethora of switches and dials that looked like my parents' 1960's Fisher 400 hi-fi tuner. The switches made a great "thunk" noise when flipped... priceless. Having control over all of a rooms lighting options bedside is one of the greatest achievements of wiring since the invention of the Fender Stratocaster.
The pen on the notepad was made of metal... a great quality hotel pen. Hotel logo embossed Bic's be damned! You know this pen came home with me.
Welcome back !
